If you have just found this blog my name is Rachel and I pop on most months to share from my life and coaching experience- welcome! . If you are my friend and long standing companion thank you for journeying with me.
I hope you will indulge me in a bit of story telling this month. I completely believe in the power of his now word to us and the life that it brings- and since that can't just be for the clients that I coach it must first be for me, I feel compelled to bring you a few of my own recent examples of how hearing from God always, even in the tough times, makes such a difference.
In all of our lives there are moments when our strength and will begins to wilt and despite faith and hope in the promises of God we come to a place (maybe not for the first time) when we are exhausted faint hearted and desperate for strength from outside of ourselves-well you might have guessed it -there i was!
If this sounds familiar to you too I am here to encourage you that this place, uncomfortable as it is, can actually be a moment of opportunity if we use it to propel us forward and towards the words and refreshment of the one who is our only source of strength.
When I hit this unhappy spot I may have been tempted to feel less than or that I shouldn't be in this place -but I just knew that the only place I could go was to cry out to God for help and strength.
From that place I heard a series of words that brought me such help as they came.
As i cried out to him I heard the scripture I have blessed you in the heavenly realm with every Spiritual blessing in Christ.(Ephesians 1 v 3) He sees things very differently to me and I chose to trust that word
A few days later again i came to him and clearly I heard-"My life is your life". That took me to the scripture Colossians 3 v 3 to 4
When Christ who is your life appears-
You died and your life is hidden with Christ in God
I realised in a new way the truth that he is so completely invested in my life that it is actually his now! Its not me on my own-he IS my life, my life is his and that life is in the wonderful place of safety with Christ in God .I can draw on that and receive newness and strength every day.
Finally In that same weekend I had again a strong sense of needing more strength and went on to have a dream of a fully skinned lamb upside down on a butchers hook legs and all! It was super vivid and when I woke up I knew I had received new strength and that the strength flowed from his sacrifice for me.
If you read this far- well done! I guess I shared this hoping to encourage you that your place of weakness and need for him can become a place where lovely words of refreshment can spring up if you take your need to him and expect him to meet you there .Sometimes this can come from simply knowing that you have nowhere else to go!
This posture of coming to him as we are and expecting him to speak is very much where i would encourage coaching clients to go. Through sensitive questions and Spirit led reflection I would lead them to a place of understanding where they were at and then support them to listen to the Lord for his word and guidance
