Darkness and difficulty are NEVER welcome, and yet as sure as nightfall we all face them at one time or another.
I'm going to keep it brief this month but I wanted to share a little story to illustrate how we can not only have his light in the darkness but that the darkness can actually serve to trigger the light of God to shine brighter for us and for those around us.
If you missed last months summer house blog ill post it here but the short version is that I now have a beautiful cedar wood summer house in my garden to hopefully host some in person coaching sessions as well as being my own relaxing space. And it all came out of a messed up situation that I asked him to speak into.
A dear friend of mine decided he wanted to bless me with some solar powered lights and last Friday he and his wife came and put them up inside and outside the summer house .That evening as the darkness fell and on came the lights I smiled and thought 'thats lovely I have lights!'
The next evening I watched the darkness falling slowly and the lights coming on and started to really meditate on this beautiful sight
As long as the solar panel is soaking in the light, when the darkness falls we will have light.
So for us scripture promises us that as we look to him we will always have light in our darkness because he has set it up that way. There are many verses that speak about this; here are a few.
Psalm 139 v12 The darkness will not be dark to you, the night will shine like day, for darkness is as light to you.
Matthew 4 v 16 For those sitting in darkness have seen a great light, to those sitting in the land and shadow of death a light has dawned
John 8 v 12 I am the light of the world, whoever follows me will not walk in darkness but will have the light of life
Just as I can rely on the lights to come on in the dark if my solar panel is in place so we are promised the light of his presence in our lives as we acknowledge his presence and turn our attention towards him in all circumstances. It is there, he is there. We can depend on it.
Like everything in the kingdom, we receive this truth by faith, and though it may seem all dark to you, it is possible to stand on these promises and see the light of his presence brighter than ever in your difficult time.
May you be blessed as you meditate on this and if you are London-based and would like some in-person coaching, we can watch the lights come on together!
Blessings!
Rachel
